How-to Guides

These guides are scenario-based walkthroughs for common tasks in the What-If platform. Each guide is written around a specific situation, covering not just the steps but the decisions involved and what to watch out for.

For UI walkthroughs and platform procedures, refer to the Getting Started section.

1. Running Analysis

Use these guides once setup is complete and you are ready to test rate changes.

GuideWhen to Use It
Test a Base Rate IncreaseEvaluating the impact of a uniform rate increase, or the Premium Displacement result looks different from what was expected
Compare Two Rate Change ProposalsTwo competing proposals need a side-by-side comparison, or the Scenario Compare report is not producing a meaningful result
Run a Scenario and Check the ResultsA saved scenario needs to be executed and results confirmed, or a scenario has been running longer than expected
Edit and Re-Run a ScenarioRate assumptions need to be adjusted and the scenario re-run, with or without preserving the existing results

2. Interpreting Results

Use these guides after a scenario has executed to understand what the reports are telling you.

GuideWhen to Use It
Read a Premium Displacement ReportThe Premium Displacement report is open and the three premium figures need to be understood, or the Charged and Current gap is unexpectedly large
Identify Affected SegmentsThe premium displacement needs to be broken down by dimension, or one segment is showing a disproportionately large impact
Identify Rate Factors Driving a ChangeThe displacement looks larger or smaller than expected and the rate adjustments need to be verified

3. Troubleshooting

Use these guides when something has gone wrong with a scenario execution.

GuideWhen to Use It
Investigate a Partial Executed ScenarioA scenario returned Partial Executed and a decision is needed on whether the results are usable or the issue needs to be fixed first
Resolve a Failed ScenarioA scenario returned Failed and the root cause needs to be diagnosed to get it to a successful execution
