Book of Business (BoB)
1. What is a Book of Business (BoB)?▸
A Book of Business is a saved portfolio definition that determines which policies a scenario will run against. It is created by applying filters against the in-force policy data in the Data Platform; no file upload is required. The resulting policy set is used as the exposure universe for What-If analysis.
2. How is a Book of Business created?▸
From the scenario creation workflow, select a product and rate plan, then define the portfolio by applying filters such as Effective Date Range, State, Writing Company, Vehicle Type, and Agency Code. The platform calculates the matching policy count in real time as filters are applied. Once the scope looks correct, name the book and save it.
3. Can a Book of Business be reused across multiple scenarios?▸
Yes. A saved Book of Business can be selected when building any new scenario for the same product and rate plan. This ensures scenarios are compared against an identical policy population.
4. What filters are available when defining a Book of Business?▸
Available filters include Effective Date Range, State, Writing Company, Vehicle Type, and Agency Code. Additional segmentation filters may be available depending on the configuration of your environment.
5. Can large portfolios be used as a Book of Business?▸
Yes. The platform is designed to support enterprise-scale policy populations. Execution time will vary based on portfolio size, rating complexity, and infrastructure capacity.
6. What should I do if the policy count looks lower than expected?▸
Check whether the Effective Date Range is too narrow or a filter is excluding policies unintentionally. Remove the last filter applied and review the count before reapplying. If the count remains unexpectedly low, contact your administrator to confirm the source data is available for the selected product and date range.
