Introduction

The Administration section of the What-If platform provides centralized governance and configuration capabilities for platform administrators. It covers the full scope of administrative operations required to establish, maintain, and govern the platform environment - from onboarding users and controlling access, to configuring environments, defining analytical report structures, and managing platform-wide settings.

Administrators are responsible for ensuring that the platform is correctly configured before business users can operate within it. This includes creating user accounts with appropriate roles and product-level permissions, setting up and validating deployment environments, configuring the analysis framework that drives KPI reporting, and maintaining currency and locale preferences across the platform.

The administration capabilities are accessible through the Administration Portal, which is separate from the main application interface and requires administrator-level credentials to access.

Setup Sequence

Administration tasks must be completed in a specific order. Some steps are prerequisites for others - skipping or reordering them will result in business users being unable to operate the platform correctly.

StepTaskWhy it must come first
1Configure EnvironmentsEnvironments are the connection point to the rating engine. Without at least one active environment, scenarios cannot be executed and health checks cannot be performed.
2Configure Analysis ReportsAnalysis configurations define the report structures that drive KPI profiles. Without at least one analysis configuration per product, users cannot create meaningful KPI profiles and report dimensions will not be available.
3Configure CurrencyCurrency settings apply platform-wide to all premium values displayed in reports and dashboards. Set this before users begin executing scenarios so that all outputs are displayed consistently from the start.
4Create UsersUsers should be created after environments and analysis configurations are in place, so that when a user logs in for the first time the platform is ready for them to work in.

Note: You can create users at any point, but they will not be able to run meaningful analysis until Steps 1 and 2 are complete for the products they have been given access to.
